The Israeli Reservist

Established lives. Repeated deployments. Unimaginable loss.

“Risen Hearts granted me something this war had taken from me: a real inner peace. No responsibility. No pressure. After 3 years as a Reservist, fighting on several fronts, juggling between life and staying alive, that peace is really what I seek.”
- Risen Hearts participant

Israeli reservists are often men in their 30s and 40s. They're husbands, fathers, business owners, professionals, and members of established communities. When called to serve, they leave behind careers, spouses, children, and everyday responsibilities, only to return home and be redeployed again and again.

Unlike younger active-duty soldiers, these men carry the added stress of trying to maintain family and career lives amid the uncertainty of repeated deployments. They have also experienced more war, over a sustained period of time. Every Risen Hearts participant has experienced at least one significantly traumatic combat-related event, and every participant thus far has lost multiple brothers-in-arms.

For many, there is no simple transition from battlefield to home. They are expected to return to the lives they built while carrying experiences that can fundamentally change them.

They have spent years protecting their families, their communities, and their country. Now, they deserve the opportunity to step away from the battlefield, reconnect with themselves and their loved ones, and begin to heal, returning to their families stronger. Your support makes that possible.
